Math Success for Students in the Middle Grades
Welcome to Christine’s Math Tutoring, the place where students in grades 4 through 8 get math tutoring / teaching / mentoring in a friendly and emotionally safe atmosphere.
Some students lack arithmetic skills. Others struggle with the complexity of problem solving or the greater levels of abstraction they need as they are introduced to algebra. Still others strive to exceed the expectations of their school environment.
All can expand their skills and knowledge when learning happens in their optimal zone of learning, where instruction meets the student at his or her present level of skill, knowledge, motivation, and maturity, and builds upon it.
My individualized one-on-one approach provides the bridge from learning the basics to expanding into the abstract. In the process students develop mathematical thinking and gain the empowerment that comes from understanding and competence.
Math plays an important role in each child’s school success and beyond. Being and feeling competent is a great motivator for continued learning of mathematics and influences success in other areas as well.
I have worked with students with a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles for over 15 years, and can give your child the support he or she needs. Together we can make math accessible to your child, help build competence and confidence, and end homework struggles.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and your child.
Christine has been such a great help to me and gotten me through my first year Algebra class. Without her I definitely would not have had the in depth understanding of the concepts or been able to enjoy my math class. It has been a fantastic experience.
My daughter has worked with Christine off and on for several years. She enjoys working with Christine and actually looks forward to the days she has tutoring. Working with Christine has improved both her math grade and her self-esteem. Since math has always been the most challenging subject for my daughter, I was pleasantly surprised recently to hear her say that math is her favorite subject.
